Trout get underway

22 April 2008

Despite some very cool East winds the early part of the trout season has been quite productive in Caithness with good catches coming off Calder and St Johns. Trout have been taken on intermediate lines for the most part using lure like flies like the Ace of Spades and similar but have been in good condition. St Johns has produced a few trout in the 4lb range so lets hope 2008 is the year this great loch gets back on form. Lesley had her first serious outing on Calder and had 2 nice trout on the Kate McLaren with a green tag. Some green midge were seen in the shallows despite the cold air so its all shaping up nicely.
