Fishing Companion reviewed in Trout & Salmon09 January 2006
Lesley's neat little compilation of trivia 'The Fishing Companion' published by Think Publishing in September 2005 received an excellent review in the prestigious magazine Trout & Salmon. The book represents a complete departure from Lesley's practical fishing works. Here is an extract of the December 2005 T&S review by Richard Baker;
'The idea is you dip in and out at will, grazing on facts and crunching on numbers...entries are well researched - there are more than 500 of them - the entire gamut of angling is covered but fly fishing predominates. Poems, literary extracts, historical tracts and modern cartch stats cosy up to lists of the absurd and many truly awful puns. Notables, from Walton to Falkus, the tactics employed by vengeful gillies, items found in sharks stomachs, blogging, sniggling and Professor Petersons floating chair are all present.....This is trivia, anything goes and a sequel is probably in the offing. Let's hope so...'
