Trout Spawning06 November 2007
With only light rain through October the first confirmed sighting of trout on the redds at the Reay Lochs was 3rd November. This was only about a week later than normal and occurred after a day of very heavy rain which brought up water levels in the burns sufficiently enough to allow the trout to run. A significant number of trout over the pound mark were seen in the spawning ditches and up at the main spring busily reproducing so lets hope their efforts yeild a bumper crop in 3 years time.
