While Lesley is not a very great fan of stockie bashing she spent a pleasant day in cold November sunshine at Harpsdale, Caithness`s only commercial stocked pond fishery. Duly going home with two large rainbows caught on a Blitzen it proved a nice diversion and slightly made up for the dreadful end to the wild trout season. Rainbow trout fisheries like Harpsdale fulfill a need of sorts as they can be fished easily and all year while the brownies get their time off to spawn.
