First mayfly spotted07 June 2010
After a demanding day at the Reay lochs with the midges biting more than the trout we are happy to report the first mayfly of this season were seen hatching and the trout were beginning to actively hunt them down. The Caithness and Sutherland mayfly hatch begins in early June and will now continue til mid August. Time to spruce up those big green drake dry flies!
